Background

Blurred was founded to bring corporate comms consulting together with creative brand campaigning, to help clients tell their story more powerfully to all audiences, without labels getting in the way. Because today corporate affairs are consumer affairs more than ever, and reputation doesn’t obey audience silos.

Blurred believes that corporate reputation and thought leadership work should be given the same creative treatment that is more traditionally found in ‘consumer PR’ agencies. And that creative brand campaigns are more effective and reputationally strategic when they are underpinned by a genuine, deep understanding of corporate affairs context.

The agency is passionately purpose-driven, and operates by a mantra of “giving clients a better story to tell – and then telling it brilliantly.” As such, much of Blurred’s work naturally has a social impact, purpose or sustainability flavour.

Why is Blurred different? What problem does Blurred solve?

Blurred was set up to be the best home for ‘corpsumer’ PR briefs, which it prefers to call ‘blurred briefs’.

By design, it approaches communication and reputation asks and challenges with a more fully-integrated – or blurred – worldview, combining corporate comms, creative campaigning and sustainability/social impact consultancy in one team.

Because in a world where the culture war, social media and misinformation combine to blur or erase the lines between corporate affairs, consumer affairs and public affairs, an approach that treats disciples as a continuum is what is needed in order to protect reputation and build trust and belief.

Large network agencies have long promised such integration. The reality is that ‘corporate’ and ‘consumer’ practices are separate teams, often with competing internal P&Ls and subject to internal politics. Similarly, ‘health’ and ‘technology’ and ‘FMCG’ practices often splinter away. The result is division, not integration. And less impactful work and results for clients.

Blurred was designed as a new generation of agency for a world where integration between corporate and consumer, strategy and creative, needs to be in the DNA of the business and the client service team, not just words on a website that are not matched by actions IRL.

Blurred is the perfect agency partner for:

  • Companies wanting an integrated approach to strategic reputation management and creative campaigning
  • Companies or brands wanting a more creative, effective approach to traditional corporate thought leadership
  • Brands wanting creative PR and influencer campaigns underpinned by a genuine understanding of corporate affairs, issues and risks
  • B2B companies wanting a more creative, brand-building approach to traditional B2B PR
  • Companies or brands seeking real impact: behaviour change or policy change as a result of their PR and comms campaigning
  • Companies or brands wanting to put purpose or social impact at the heart of their comms and campaigning, in a meaningful way
  • Companies in the green-tech, climate-tech or ‘sustainability economy’, wanting a PR agency partner that is passionate and expert in ESG and sustainability consultancy (Blurred has been shortlisted by Edie as Sustainability Consultancy Of The Year, three years in a row)
  • Start-ups and scale-ups wanting a similar founder-led PR agency partner to help them grow
  • NGOs or charities needing to build an audience, raise awareness, fundraise or drive behaviour change
